Short Bio : Sharif Ahmed Chowdhury has obtained his M.Phil. and PhD in government and politics. He has a wide range of experience in university teaching, quantitative and qualitative research, and program evaluation in the development arena in Bangladesh. In his professional life, he worked on different national, international, bilateral, and donor agency projects, including those of the US Embassy, British High Commission, FAO, Dhaka, Oxfam Bangladesh, BIPSS, Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB), and JICA. He served as a faculty member at the Asian University of Bangladesh and Gono University. He accomplished more than 35 research projects independently, both at home and abroad. His recognition in the fields of governance, corruption, parliamentary affairs, women in development, regional cooperation’s, and multiple stakeholders’ involvement in the governance sectors, such as the RMG sector, is remarkable in the country. He served as an Environmental, Social, and Resettlement Specialist (ESRG) in the flagship project of the government—the Moheshkhali Power Hub Project, RAP. After Rana Plaza collapsed, his studies on the governance of the ready-made garment (RMG) sector in Bangladesh were appreciated at the global policy level. His book ‘Regional Integration in South Asia: Problems and Prospects’ is recognized as a text book at the university level. He has lots of publications, including books, research reports, articles, book chapters and conference papers. Now, he has been serving as a Senior Research Fellow at the Bangladesh Institute of Democracy and Development (BIDD) and led the BiDD research team. Dr. Chowdhury is a member of the Asiatic Society of Bangladesh.
